THE BARBARA WELCH LEARNING ENRICHMENT CENTER
Dedicated in 2003, the Welch Center is named for Barbara Welch, long-time educator at Mother Guerin High School. The center, which is available to all students and faculty, promotes the spirit of academic excellence and unfailing generosity so evident in Ms. Welch’s character. As a member of the Mother Guerin community for 32 years, she fostered a love of learning and a quest for excellence.
The Barbara Welch Learning Enrichment Center exemplifies Guerin Prep’s commitment to a college-preparatory curriculum, while meeting the needs of each individual student.
The center has a two-fold focus in that it provides opportunities for Guerin Prep students to maximize their high school academic performance and enhance their social skills in preparation for success in college, career and life. But the Welch Center also supports faculty members in their professional development and their continued implementation of innovative teaching strategies.
HOW THE CENTER WORKS
The center is located in Room 212 of Guerin Prep and is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students may drop-in before school begins, however, an appointment is required to work in the center during one of the lunch periods (4, 5, 6, 7) or during a student's study period. Make an appointment with one of the co-directors (Ms. Haas or Ms. Tesauro) at least the period before you intend to work in the center.
