Ms. Alexander to go to Washington!
Kristi Alexander (right) and her photography teacher, Ms. Kathy Zelm-Gazzolo, celebrate Kristi's achievement as this year's winner of the 5th Congressional District Art Competition, sponsored by Congressman Rahm Emanuel. Kristi's winning photograph of the architectural skyline along the Chicago River will hang in one of the hallways of Congress in Washington, D.C. Part of the award was a free trip to Washington, D.C., for Kristi and two guests to attend the ceremony when her picture will be installed. Another Guerin artist Kristie Melgar won third prize in the competition with her piece, "Etchings."

Two Weeks and Counting!
During last week's induction of new members into Guerin Prep's Chapter of the National Honor society, the "senior" members received the special gold stole and tassle they will wear for commencement exercises May 22. More Award Winners!
At the spring concert featuring the music of Guerin Prep's concert and jazz bands, Seniors Vanessa Norman and John Kalibokis received special awards as outstanding bands members based on the votes of their peers. Vanessa earned the John PhillipSousa Award for Band; John won the Louise Armstong Award for Jazz.

During the Choir and Strings Concert the following night, Vanessa was named the recipient of the"National Choral Award,”an honor given to a senior who has been a significant part of the music program throughout her high school career.  It recognizes the dedication, loyalty, leadership, and musical achievement of that student.

GUERIN PREP ANNOUNCES $1 MILLION
CHALLENGE GIFT TO SUPPORT SCHOOL'S
FIRST EVER CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

The campaign will help develop the Holy Cross Athletic Center and support the construction of a new lobby/ gathering space to be added to the existing Holy Cross gym. Other initiatives will benefit our students in the areas of Academics, Arts and (Financial) Aid.
